# Fikret Yüksel Foundation

Fikret Yüksel Vakfı 1998’de Fikret Yüksel tarafından kurulmuştur.Darüşşafaka (Maddi olanakları sınırlı olan ve ebeveynlerinden en az birini kaybetmiş olan çocukları eğitmeyi amaçlayan bir kurum) mezunu olan Fikret Yüksel eğitim hayatına önce İTÜ, sonrasında MIT ve Harvard’da devam etti. İnşaat mühendisliği, yapı mühendisliği ve maden mühendisliği alanlarında okudu ve çalıştı.

Türkiye’de ve Amerika’da bir çok mühendislik projesinde yer aldı ve Alaska Boru Hattı’nın tasarımında önemli görevlerde bulundu. Hayatının ilerleyen yıllarında mühendislikten emekli oldu ve kızı Susan Burchard’la konut renovasyonu ve ticareti işine girdi. Beraber Seattle’da ve çevresinde konut sahibi olan ve işleten Yüksel Inc’i kurdular ve büyüttüler. Yüksel ölümünün ardından şirketin, Darüşşafaka öğrencileri öncelikli olmak üzere Türk öğrencilere destek veren bir vakfın kurulmasını istediğini vasiyet etti.
